Regional Telecommunications Review reaches Longreach
Published on 2 July 2018
The Longreach community is invited to attend an upcoming meeting to share their views about the quality and accessibility of internet and mobile phone services in the area.
The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee is particularly interested in how regional communities can maximise the social and economic benefits that digital technology provides.
The Committee will be holding a meeting on 9 July from 2:45pm – 4:15pm.
The location will be the Qantas Founders Museum, 1 Hudson Fysh Drive, Longreach Airport.
Committee Chair, Sean Edwards, says he wants to hear a broad range of views about telecommunications, particularly about digital technology.
“We want to give regional communities the opportunity to tell us what’s working well and what needs improving,” Mr Edwards said.
“We know how important telecommunications services are to people in and around Longreach, and we want to understand how locals have adopted new and emerging technologies for business, farming, education and community activities.”
The Committee will report to the Minister for Regional Communications, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie, by 30 September 2018.
Submissions will be accepted until 5 August 2018, 5.00pm (AEST).
